In Improvisation 201 I explore the tension between vivid colors and geometric shapes.

Composition with letters is a mixed media work where vinyl letters are attached to the canvas and painted over with acrylic. They do not function as text but as elements of the composition and become an integral part of the painting surface.

Composition with two cubes and letters is another piece from the same series. The austere symmetry of the composition dominated by two cubes is disturbed by addition of vinyl letters that are not intended as text. The letters NC, however, refer to North Carolina, where I live.

Sculpture garden is a series of abstract acrylic paintings. While the forms depicted in this series are conceived as abstract sculptures, some of the paintings, perhaps, can be viewed as abstract still lifes or abstract landscapes.

 

Twisted Steel is inspired by a twisted steel column from the 9/11 Ground Zero that became one of the artifacts of the Tribute Museum.
