Rocky trail is a series of abstract acrylic paintings on paper inspired by my hiking trips to the beautiful North Carolina mountains. Unable to travel during the pandemic lockdown in 2020 I created these pieces based on my memories from the previous years. Artmaking for me is a way of processing my experiences and abstraction is the result of this process. Here cliffs and crevices in the rocks, twisted tree branches and dry leaves, steep climb and surprising vistas are transformed into abstract shapes and lines and the tones of grey, black and sienna.
